How to Send an Email In Reply to A Job Interview

Job interviews are a multi-step process that allows both parties – the hiring party and the candidates – to assess how well they would work together.

When sending a job interview reply via email, it’s a good idea to offer your thanks for the interviewer’s time and express what you’ve learned about the company. You may also choose to include a highlight of the interview if anything stood out as particularly interesting.

Here’s how to send an email in reply to a job interview.

How to Send an Email In Reply to A Job Interview

It’s important to note that in your initial job interview reply, your tone should be positive but not overly enthusiastic.

While enthusiasm is good in moderation, being intensely enthusiastic immediately post-interview can come across as either insincere pandering or begging. However, you should also opt against offering criticism at this stage, as this can make you seem uninterested in the job or potentially difficult to work with.

To reply to a job interview via email, open with the same level of greeting that you’ve used previously with the recruiter or hiring manager. Offer thanks for the opportunity to interview and note your appreciation for learning about the company and/or the position itself.

If there were any standout moments in the interview, such as an interesting fact about the company or a short office tour, you may choose to mention these as well. This can show that you were paying attention. The same goes for mentioning other employees you happened to meet while interviewing.

After that, sign off as you normally would. There’s no need to include your contact information here unless it is a part of your usual email signature.
