Both “Sweat” and “Sweated” are considered the correct past tense form of the verb “to sweat”.

I sweat/sweated right through my T-shirt.

The verb ”to sweat” means when you excrete water from a body. Perspire is a synonym of “to sweat”.

In my opinion, it is not actually that common to use the verb “to sweat” in the past simple. The act of sweating is often a continuous action and therefore “was sweating”(the past continuous) is much more common.

I was sweating the whole afternoon.

Sweat as the past simple

“Sweat” is one way to write the past simple of the verb “to sweat”

I sweat a lot during the football match.

Sweated as the past simple

“Sweated” is another way to write the past simple of the verb “to sweat”

In this example, I would use “sweated” just to make it clear that it happened in the past.
