The advances in A.I have been so incredible for the past few months and I have been waiting for someone to create an A.I tutor so that you can practice your speaking and listening skills with ChatGPT.

Talkio AI is a very impressive tool and should be included in every language learner’s toolbox. I recommend using it as a supplement to real one-to-one classes with a platform like Preply.

What is Talkio A.I?

Talkio A.I is an A.I Tutor platform where you can practice your language skills with an A.I Voice. The Tutor uses ChatGPT to understand the conversation and respond back to you.

How Talkio A.I works

In order to get started with Talkio, you need to sign up here.  You do need to enter your credit card details but Talkio is completely safe and I didn’t have a problem when I signed up. You get 7 days to try out the product for free

Once you are signed up, you need to choose, your native language, the language you want to learn and your level in that language. Don’t worry, you can change that later in the settings section if you want to practice a different language. 

You can then choose the have a free conversation, role-play a specific situation, or talk about a certain topic.

You can also choose between having a text conversation or using your voice to have a conversation.

I highly recommend using the voice section so that you can practice your speaking and listening skills.

Who is Talkio A.I for?

Talkio is for anyone learning a new language. It is especially helpful for students studying for exams as you can practice specific topics.

I recommend it for all levels but especially for beginners who feel too shy to practice their speaking skills with a native speaker. If you are at a more advanced level, it might be worth booking a class with a teacher on Preply

Talkio A.I  Pros and Cons

Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of using Talkio.

Pros

  • You can practice as much as you want so you can really improve your skills
  • You can practice more than 40 languages. 
  • The interface is easy to use
  • The only platform that I have seen where you can talk to ChatGPT

Cons

  • Can never replace the fluidity/randomness of a human conversation
  • Some more obscure languages don’t work so well(like Irish)

Is Talkio A.I Worth It?

In my opinion, Talkio is definitely worth it as it offers something new to language learning. I always recommend using several resources as part of your language learning studies. 

Right now, I would recommend taking online classes once a week with a teacher, using Talkio once a day and also using DuoLingo for vocabulary.

Talkio A.I Alternatives

There are no exact alternatives that I have found. If you want an alternative you can use a chrome extension to speak to ChatGPT and practice that way.
